Jahmel McElveen

Best Man

I've known Jahmel since I was 12 yrs. old. When my family moved in the Westwind neighborhood he and a group of kids invited me to play a game of basketball. He picked me to be on his team because I was the new kid and to see if I had any game. Needless to say we won the game when I hit the last shot fading out of bounds.

Monica Stafford

Bridesmaid

Monica and I became friends at the early age of 5 when my family moved to Glendale. in Florence, SC. Her grandparents lived across the street from us and one day we all decided to climb the tree in my front yard and decided then that we'd be best friends forever!

Jackie Foxe

Groomsman

Well I knew of Jackie from riding the same bus to and from school in 1996. We officially met when I decided to join Cross Country team that my J.V. Basketball coach convinced me to do. Now as the ONLY two black athletes on the team I hoped that we would form some type of understanding with one another and we did. After practice I met his mom and came to find out that she and my mom grew up together on the westside of town. From that moment Jackie, myself and Robert formed a solid trust and was given the nickname "The 3 Stooges" by a close teacher because we were always together doing something silly and stupid.

Andreka Johnson

Bridesmaid

I met Andreka in the first grade at Timrod Elementary School. Of course, we were the two smartest girls in our class so it was only fair that we'd end up as best friends for life! And although we've gotten older, we've been smart enough to continue a friendship that has lasted well beyond those days of smart girls to now become intelligent women.

Sammy Prior

Groomsman

In 2007, I met Sammy when we were both groomsmen in a wedding. The only thing we did was put a name to a face because our mutual friend was the groom that talked about Sammy's life to me and vice versa. Now what I didn't know was that he would call me every other day to talk some type of trash about my teams and still to this day I don't know why I haven't cut him off...haha.

Tonya Scott

Bridesmaid

Although I've known of Tonya all my life as our parents were friends, I officially met Tonya in band class at Williams Middle School. We both played the Alto Saxophone and later became founding members of "Sax Appeal" where we shared a love for sweet music, passing notes, and developed a lasting love for one another.

Jasper Lee

Groomsman

Jasper was introduced by a friend of mine when we served on the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) in 2003. At first, I couldn't understand not a single word coming out of his mouth because he has a strong CAJUN accent, so I learned quickly to catch the first and last word of his sentences and then try to figure out the other words that I missed. He would also be my first and only roommate because we both came to the conclusion that our experience living together was so unique that it couldn't be duplicated and eventually destiny would make his next roommate his wife.

Ingrid Flornoy

Bridesmaid

I met Ingrid on my first day of class at Tuskegee University. We both sat on the front row in Professor Jimmeh's political science class and we've been having front row seats in each other's lives ever since. She became the Ms. "Ack" to my Ms. "Bla" and together we were Ms. "Black," a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.'s court.

Jacqueline Reaves

Bridesmaid

I met Jacqueline as my classmate at Tuskegee University and was also my next door neighbor in Lewis Adams Hall. One day, a cockroach found its way in my room and after screaming my head off, she came in my room and not only killed the roach but came back to pour acid in the corners so that no other roach would enter my room. And we've been fighting battles together since our days in the dorm.

Faith Burton

Bridesmaid

I met Faith my freshman year at Tuskegee University where we both shared a love for Winnie the Pooh, angels, and singing! We'd have sleepovers in her dorm room at Emery I Hall where we shared stories of our families, food, a twin bed and we're still sharing so much together...

James Barrier

Groomsman

So where do I start with James? In the spring of 2007 he joined the staff where I was working at the Naval Reserve Center in Raleigh, NC. Now if you let him tell it, one morning he attempted to spark up a friendly conversation but I ignored him so after that in his head I was a cornball and a few other words I can't post but you get the point. Truth be told I didn't hear him and my mind was probably elsewhere at the time but we developed good friendship that graduated to a lifetime brother that I can always count on.

Britany Suttles

Bridesmaid

I met Britany as an intern with the US Army in Huntsville, Alabama. I started that job not looking to make any new friends but then came Britany tagging along on what would become one of our many trips out of the country (Barbados) and we've been inseparable ever since.

Caesar Bell

Groomsman

The arrival of Caesar in 2008. He would also work on the same staff at Raleigh, NC and would be the crucial piece to the current friendship in the building that lead to the development of "The Committee." Along with James and Charles the next two years were non-stop daily debates, "Challenges" and pulling pranks to the breaking point of wanting to fight each other. But on a serious note, he was the cornerstone in re-shifting my priorities and stressed the importance of education so volunteered his time to a young 25yr old Damien as a mentor on and off work so I wouldn't become a negative statistic.
