While planning a 2020 spring vacation to Hawaii with friends, we each independently decided it would be the perfect opportunity to propose. Secretly, we each planned a little overnight side trip to Haleakala National Park and separately confided in the same friend about our intentions. Luckily, it was suggested that we talk to each other before booking flights and accommodations to avoid double booking. What a sweet surprise! In the end, we never made it to Hawaii and instead got engaged in our house over blueberry pancakes and mimosas during lockdown--an apt consolation--and we've put Hawaii back on the bucket list for now. Alaska is more our style anyway.
