Marc and I met in January 2022 on Facebook. He sent me a message that was honestly a little corny, but it made me laugh. I gave him my number and about a week or two later he called and asked to take me out. Our first date was getting my nails done. I still think he was secretly trying to see if my feet were ugly, but it was cute. Soon after, we celebrated Valentine’s Day at The Cheesecake Factory. Marc was late picking me up and when we got there the line was extremely long. I told him I didn’t have much time because my dad was watching my son Aaden before heading to work. Then a server called out a reservation for someone named John. Out of nowhere Marc stood up and said “Yup, that’s us!” and we took their reservation. I couldn’t stop laughing. At the end of the night he dropped me home and surprised me with a huge Valentine’s basket. Since that day he has made sure to give me one every year. Later on we discovered something even more special. Marc already knew my father from when he worked at Racetrac, and my dad used to visit that store often. When I met Marc’s mother we also learned that our families were already very close back in Haiti. At that moment it felt like destiny. Today we share a beautiful blended family and welcomed our daughter, Malani Arielle Lahens, who is now two years old. Our journey has been full of laughter, surprises, and love, and we can’t wait to celebrate the start of Forever Lahens.
