Online dating is never easy. You scan through dozens of profiles never knowing peoples intentions or how they will be in real life, second-rate dates and low energy conversations soon to follow after a bad match. But as the old saying goes, God works in mysterious ways. We matched through the app and decided to exchange phone numbers after several pleasant conversations. We texted each other every single day; every time her name came across my screen I had to talk to her. After about a month, I finally got to meet the person who I would spend the rest of my life with. I asked her on a date to the National Harbor on the warm summer evening of July 23, 2017. Butterflies buzzed harder than ever when I saw her walk down the street; I still remember how bubbly her smile was. It was clear we were both the shy types, so we needed time to come out of shells a bit, but after that, we couldn’t have been more excited to finally meet one another in person. We talked for hours while exploring the harbor like we were old friends who met up after not seeing each other for a long time. There were no awkward pauses, no phones, no need to say “Hey my friend is calling me, I should leave”, we just clicked on the spot and it was genuine. We made our way to explore the art instillations at the MGM as she had never been before. We had fun while admiring and interacting with the various installations. While enjoying the waterworks show on the balcony, fireworks started in the distance. They exploded while we held hands and basked in the shower of colors in the night air... It was as if this moment was the start of our very own movie. One could say, I swiped right on the rest of my life.
