It was June 15th, 2023, the day Chance and I went on our first date. We met on Hinge, and from the second we connected, it felt like we were meant to be. His first message? A bold one: “I need to come up to Keller and take you out before another guy snatches you up!” Then, he threw in something even bolder- “Are you excited for your LAST first date ever?” At first, I thought he was either crazy or way too confident, but deep down, I had a feeling that he was different. Chance didn’t waste any time. Despite working all day, he drove two hours from Waco to come see me. I remember the sound of his truck a street away before we even saw him. His diesel truck- big, loud, and hard to miss- pulled up in front of my house. My mom, dad, and I were all waiting, and I could see my dad's face light up as he joked that Chance's truck was bigger than his! When I opened the door, there he stood, holding a bouquet of beautiful white roses. And let me tell you, my heart skipped a beat. It was in that very moment, looking into his eyes, that I knew I’d found my missing rib. He gave me a quick hug, and just as I was about to take the flowers, out runs Cashew, my parents' golden retriever. I quickly shooed Cashew back inside, accepting the roses, only for Chance to say, "Oh, actually, these are for your mom." My face went beet red! “Aww, Mom, come here!” I called, and Chance made his way into the house, giving my mom the flowers and chatting with my parents for about an hour. It wasn’t long before my parents were just as smitten as I was- no easy feat for the parents of the youngest, child! After a firm handshake with my parents, we finally made our way out the door. As we got to his truck, Chance opened the door for me, and I was surprised to see another bouquet- this time, beautiful red roses, just for me. He helped me into his truck, and we headed to one of my favorite spots- Chuy’s. I was so nervous, I could barely eat my chips and queso (shocker, I know!) But despite my nerves, we had an amazing time. The conversation was so easy, and it felt like I had known him forever. After dinner, we went to Cabellas. As we parked, Chance turned to me and said, “We have a long walk. Want to hold my hand?” I blushed, but I didn’t hesitate. My heart was racing. We walked around the store, and when I went to the restroom, I had to pinch myself- this couldn’t be real?! He was everything I’d ever prayed for, and I still couldn’t believe I was with him. We left Cabellas and continued our night in Southlake, walking around and talking about everything and nothing. Time seemed to stop as we got lost in our conversation. When we returned to my parents’ house, I didn’t want the night to end. So, Chance came back in to talk to my parents some more, and we ended up watching a movie, though really, we just kept talking. Eventually, the night had to end, but from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. The connection we shared that night was the start of something incredible, and it’s only grown stronger since. We’ve shared so many laughs, memories, and adventures, and now, as we get ready to take the next step in our journey together, I know with all my heart that he is my forever. Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
