How We Met..

The Summer of 2013

Jennifer and Jeffrey's story began the Summer of 2013. They were in high school at the time, but it was during that summer that Jenn was invited to a youth service by one of her close friends. The church was located in Kendall, so there was organized transportation with a designated pick up spot for those who lived in Broward (thank God for that!) Coincidentally, the pick up location was across the street from Jeffrey's house at the time, though they didn't meet until later that Friday night.   With some great experiences throughout the youth service, it was when the night was coming to an end that the two were introduced to one another and finally met. Jeffrey kindly said, "It's nice to meet you, how did you like the service?", Jenn responded, "it was great". To this day, they joke on how dry her response was! Maybe it was the nerves from love at first sight?  From that day forward, their friendship flourished, all while God was the main connection through the ministry they now both attended. From their teen years, to entering adulthood, they've experienced countless journeys together that are held closely in their hearts. Their dearest loved ones have joined in admiration of their accomplishments, and how much they've overcome together.

The Proposal

01.03.2020

Six years later, Jeffrey planned a special picnic for their anniversary. Little did Jenn know, he had an evening filled with surprises that would mark a new beginning for the pair! The planning began months prior; and during Christmas of 2019, he found a beautiful dress, which he later had his mom gift to Jenn. With no coincidence, it was the perfect dress for her to wear for their anniversary date.  When the day finally arrived, Jenn had a set time to be ready by for their beachside picnic. To her surprise, Jeffrey came not only with flowers- but a blindfold! She wore it while he drove, and as they got closer to the location, he also gave her a set of headphones to avoid hearing anything that would be said around her once they parked at the beach. He escorted her out of the car and walked her to a perfect spot near the water, where their families were waiting for them with a heart made of roses on the fresh grass and balloons that spelled out "Will you marry me?". He picked her over a curb, gently placed her back on her feet, and positioned her to be in front of him while faced away. The sunset was like magic, perfectly and beautifully designed by the same God that had brought them together almost 7 years prior. She unplugged her headphones and now heard the song "Marry Me" by Train playing; she removed her blindfold and opened her eyes to then see some of their dearest loved ones standing in front of her. She turned around to find Jeffrey on one knee as tears filled his eyes, and with their family standing in support behind him. He shared his profound love for her as he asked her the big question, and as she shed tears she was able to whisper the word "yes" before they hugged and indulged in what felt like their fairy-tale moment.  Later that day, he surprised her with an engagement party joined by friends and family, to celebrate the beginning of a new journey. Now, they are preparing for their big day: the day where they become one and unite in covenant.
