Savannah and Joseph met while working at Woodstock Middle School in Woodstock, GA. They worked in separate departments, but they would pass each other occasionally and Savannah simply could not resist the temptation to meet Joseph. He was so dreamy. Okay, Joseph wrote that part. Back to the story. Joseph eventually reached out through Facebook (his intentions still unknown to date which has been a fun conversation starter amongst the family) and he would inevitably end up calling Savannah on his way home from work at Goshen Valley Boys Ranch...every night. One date at the Copper Coin and a movie, Avengers: Infinity War, later they would become fast friends and, of course, a couple. But their hidden romance could not be revealed! Well, it could have, but they thought it best to keep things on the "down low" as the kids say. After Joseph began teaching in Paulding County, he decided that he was ready to propose. He told Savannah that he was going to the grocery store when he was actually going to ask for her mom and dad's blessing. He began to hunt for a ring with Savannah's mom, grandma, and sisters also known as "The Lord of the Ring Hunters" and his students were in on the ring hunting process, too! Joseph was so excited to show everyone the ring, he dropped everything he was doing to show everyone the ring that day. Of course, Mallory Jackson, Shannon Mohan, and Ginny Bell helped prepare for the big New Year's Eve proposal then at midnight, January 1st, 2021, Joseph asked Savannah to marry him in front of her entire family. Inscribed in the ring are the words, "Safe with me." Their story is one of hard work and understanding. Patience and love. Learning and more learning about one another. Long commutes, hundreds of children, late nights, new cities, dozens of friends, conflict, resolution, lessons, praying, healing, thinking, and listening. Their love for one another outshines any challenge they could ever face.
