Our Story Beneath the Redwood Trees

How We Fell in Love

Steven and Chelsea first met on a dating app early July 2015. Chelsea had on her profile “Tell me something weird about yourself.” He replied, “I used to make wrestling videos with my friends when I was younger.” She then reassured him “Well, I liked to growl at people when I was a younger, so I am not judging.” From there, the two laughed all night about their common interests. After a few weeks, on July 23,2015, he convinced her to let him take her on their 1st date to the OC Mining Company. Steven had planned an entire evening. He timed it perfect, so desert would come out while the Disneyland fireworks lit up the beautiful city skyline. Chelsea was so nervous she barely spoke the whole evening. Even though she was quiet, Steven wanted to get to know her better & texted Chelsea after the date to ask her on a second one. This time they met at the Orange circle to walk around. Chelsea had loosened up being in her neighborhood. She spoke of her love for art & the forest and how her favorite tree is a Redwood. She asked Steve if he wanted to go into the comic book store. Steven thought in that moment: This girl could be the one. He then dragged Chelsea over to the fountain & started singing highly off key & started dancing with her. She was smiling ear to ear when He asked if she would go on a third date with him. Steven had again, planned a perfect evening, this time with all the information Chelsea had provided him. He took her first to Maggiano’s for some Italian food. They talked about Steven's love for the theater, video games, and how important his friends are to him. He walked Chelsea across the street to an Art installation with Redwood trees. Chelsea fell for him right then and there under her favorite trees. Fast Forward 4 ½ Years, Chelsea caught the bouquet at Stevens Best Friend’s wedding & the very next day, October 6th, 2019, Steven got down on one knee under the largest Redwood trees he could find in Big Sur & Asked Chelsea to be his wife.
