In February 2019, Amanda and Andrew both attended a Greensky Bluegrass concert at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. Amanda, having just moved from Nashville, was searching for live music and a way to explore her new city and bought tickets on a whim. Andrew was behind Amanda in line and could only hear her sweet southern accent while they waited to gain entry. Upon reaching the entrance Andrew was able to see that her beauty extended far beyond her voice, and since "fortune favors the bold", he went over and introduced himself. The rest as they say, is history...

In July 2021, the Griffey family was celebrating a significant milestone, their 50th wedding anniversary. Andrew waited until the end of the anniversary celebration and then asked Amanda to step outside. The guests at the celebration knew what was about to take place but Amanda did not, which made the proposal that much more special. The guests eagerly anticipated the reentry of the newly engaged couple, and upon their return, greeted them with thunderous applause and the special hugs only mid-westerners and southerners know how to give. The proposal was extra special as both Andrew and Amanda’s parents had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary within the past year. They’re grateful for the impact their parent’s commitment made on their lives and they can’t wait to begin their own journey!
