Caitlin and Derek knew for a while that they were each other's happily ever after and wanted to get married, they just didn't know when. Derek had told Caitlin that he was saving for the perfect ring and would not settle for anything less. While on their 4th anniversary trip to Disney World, Derek pretended like he did not buy the ring yet and wanted to go look at the jewelry store after a character meet and greet with Mickey Mouse. Unbeknownst to Caitlin, Derek had the ring hiding between his pocket and backpack all day - the backpack Caitlin wore at multiple points throughout the day! During the meet and greet with Mickey, Derek got down on one knee and asked Caitlin "Will you be my Minnie?". The whole room yelled "she said yes!"

Derek and Caitlin met over the radio as Derek was a Sheriff's Deputy and Caitlin was a dispatcher.
