Brian had it all planned out. The family flying in. The Weinrib's in line. The private tour and restaurant booked. Everything. But then he got the ring in his hand and realized that there was no way that he could wait another month before popping that ring on Rebecca's finger (wrong hand, don't care). Brian immediately rallied the troops and made the new plan: propose at the family pool party in two days. Rebecca should have known when Brian told her to change her outfit, but "I don't want us to have to change before the birthday party and dinner" seemed like a decent enough reason for an outfit change. We arrived at the home Rebecca grew up in and barely had time to say our hellos before Brian asked Rebecca to show him the decks and views. As we walked out to the railing and Rebecca was telling Brian how her Papa decided to build the second deck by himself because he knew he could do it better than the contractors, Rebecca found herself alone at the rail. She turned around mid sentence and found Brian on his knee. It all gets a bit blurry after this but Brian said some beautiful words about love and commitment, Rebecca cried and cried and couldn't speak, Brian repeated his question for the second time, and Rebecca was finally able to say "yes". Our family came rushing and Rebecca continued to cry and lost all ability to speak. Brian may have teared up a bit as well, but he will not confirm nor deny this. The moment was perfect and the love was flowing. Then we ate bundt cake to seal the deal.
