Funny enough, we met at work! We spoke every so often but nothing too in depth until I realized I wanted to get to know him better. I called the job to try and get his number in a subtle way. We had been talking about pizza at work, and I asked him if I could get his or our co-worker's number to show them something. He, of course, gave me his number instead & I sent him a picture of the slice of pizza I was having for dinner. It became the beginning of almost daily conversation and lots of phone calls. In time, he knew things about me that I usually kept to myself. He gained my trust and sure enough, he gained my love too. It's funny how perfect everything was from our first conversation to our first date, to the first instance I had a family scare and how quickly he was to be supportive and concerned. We understood that we both had some not-so-great experiences in our past relationships, and we knew what we were searching for in a life partner. It worked out perfectly when we realized that what we needed individually in our partners, were actually things the other person could offer. I needed gentleness but someone to be stern with me and tell me no. And he needed someone that could provide a safe space, affection and healthy boundaries. How lucky were we to have found that in each other? And now, here we are - preparing for the beginning of our lives together with our children and our families supporting us. Thank you for being a part of our big day!
Christmas day I was super late from leaving my family's house to get to Jonathan. We had spoken in the past about our future but obviously I had no idea of what was to come. This was our first Christmas together and my daughter was opening up her gifts while I was on facetime with my family. Jonathan was giving gifts out and I, obviously, was not paying attention to what he was doing. He bent over and gave me a kiss on my forehead and said "You know I love you right?" To which I replied "Yeah, and I love you too." He told me, I know this is our first Christmas, but it won't be our last and I turned my head and saw him on one knee with the ring in hand. I was stunned - COMPLETELY. I just asked, "Are you serious right now? Are you kidding?" and he just smiled at me. Of course I said yes and here we are!!
