Jose and I met in high school. I don't know exactly when we started talking, but I know we shared the same bus route and a 3rd-period class. When we became friends, we had just ended relationships with other people, so being together was something we didn't think we needed. We would joke a lot together, and it was easy to talk to him. Jose would listen in to my conversations with our classmates and that's how he learned I was recently single. One day he invited me over to visit. I was so excited because I had grown to like him. I was crushing hard at that point. I met his mother and siblings that day, and unfortunately the youngest Salazar-Martinez brother Jonathon, thought it would be hilarious to throw a snowball at me. From day one I felt like I was part of their big family. I can't believe that hanging out that one time together has forever changed our lives. Fourteen years and two children later, we're still stuck with each other through the good, bad, and ugly.
