It started with a text in June of 2017, when Deepen finally grew the confidence to text Jayna, after having her number for about a week. We texted back and forth for almost two months before Deepen flew down to meet Jayna in person. We had many awkward moments, but looking back at those moments we can't stop laughing at our young awkward selves. Two things we had in common was our love for traveling and eating tacos. From there, we decided to travel together to find the best taco spots and get to know each other outside of our elements. #DJAdventures

For all Jayna knew, it was just a date night at the Dallas Arboretum to see the tulip festival and make chocolate soufflés. Little did she know it was all a master plan to get her to say YES!! Jayna was getting frustrated with me that I was taking her in the wrong direction, but I knew exactly where I had to go. At the perfect spot, I told her to wait as I needed to "tie my shoe". By the time Jayna looked back I was on my knee holding the ring. She finally said yes after all the "no's" and then shed tears of joy as she was surprised by all our family coming out from there hiding spots. We had a picnic in the park and continued celebrating all weekend with our family and friends. To this day, Jayna still wonders about the chocolate soufflés class.
