Destiny has a way of sneaking up on you in the most unsuspecting ways! Our love story began in the summer of 2016. On that very day, I was supposed to be in Greece on a girls trip with my friend. However, my friend decided she wanted her boyfriend to come along. I was not so comfortable because as they say, 3 is a crowd. So I decided against going on the trip. I think that whole situation made me start thinking about my life. Like “come o! When will you too have boyfriend?!” And “can you blame her? Why won’t she wanna take a trip with her man? You too go and get your own abeg! 😩” As all these thoughts were processing in my brain, I found myself knee deep on instagram and before I knew it, I had found myself 37 weeks into someone’s page that I didn’t even know....and there he was! The picture was of 2 men at a bar in DC; one was very short while the other guy was a very tall, good looking man. Now I don’t wanna call myself a social person but I know a lot of people in the DC Nigerian community...yet, I had never seen this yummy man before. So I dug until I found his page and I was even more intrigued. His name was Elliott but his bio confirmed he was Nigerian. So I added him. He added me back within a couple of minutes so I thought...”mmm...wonder if I should send a message!” Now let me say this....I had NEVER been bold enough to EVER send a dude a message on Instagram. But as I said, Destiny! I sent a message and he replied again, pretty fast (He later told me that as soon as he saw my IG add, he was eager to start a conversation too). Turns out he JUST moved out of the DC area to Florida for Work just a couple of months before. Ya’ll adding Elliott and sending the first message was ALL I did! He immediately took charge and he was such a perfect gentleman! A romance blossomed pretty fast...He started to come down to visit and vise versa. He was indeed a gentleman...it was a whirlwind romance, but of course no relationship is perfect.
So remember how this story started? I was supposed to be in Greece and whatnot. Our group of friends decided that our annual trip should be Greece in September of 2017. Finally! I get to go to Greece with MY man! Look at God! But it didn’t end there. My sweet, sweet man planned a secret proposal at a beautiful waterfront restaurant in Mykonos called Pasaji with my friends and some of my family! The elevator music that was playing stopped and John Legend’s “All Of Me” suddenly came on. About 5 people came with sparklers, a huge bottle of champagne and a cake that said “will you Marry me, Kudira?” didn’t post pictures of the actual moment because I ruined my makeup with all the crying. The whole place erupted with clapping and congratulations. It was very overwhelming! Ah! God I cried! To God be the glory. Our ever after awaits! #ForevEmuh
