Ryan and Forest crossed paths a dozen times at the climbing gym before they became friends. Their connection really began during a climbing trip to Holcomb Valley in Big Bear with a group of friends. On that trip, Ryan shared his pro tips for making hammock camping as comfy as possible, while Forest discovered a beautifully bug-chewed stick—yes, a stick—that was too unique to leave behind. That same stick now hangs in their dining room, a quirky reminder of the adventure that sparked their story together. From hammocks to heartfelt moments, it was clear something special was beginning!

Ryan had rented a house with an epic backyard, complete with an outdoor kitchen, a pool, and a hot tub—perfect for parties. One evening, Forest joined Ryan for board games, which turned into a lively house party. As the night wound down and everyone else had left, Ryan and Forest found themselves alone in the hot tub under the stars. When they shared their first kiss, Forest was struck by the amazing calm and warmth Ryan exudes with every touch—a feeling that’s stayed with them ever since.

We chose Echo Mountain because it’s an independent ski resort we love visiting for snowboarding. It perfectly reflects our connection to the Rocky Mountains—the place we’ve come to cherish as our home and where we plan to build our future together! The Rockies are more than just a backdrop for us; they’re where we embrace our favorite passions—snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running, paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, and, of course, playing with our pup, Tofu. Echo Mountain is a celebration of all we love and the life we’re creating!
