We matched on Hinge in November 2019 and had been going back and forth trying to lock in a time to meet for about a month. We finally settled on brunch one Saturday, but the morning of, Marissa realized she had slightly overdone it the night before in the Capo Basement (iykyk). She asked to push the date by an hour… and then another 30 minutes… and then 15 more... let’s just say it was a slow start. Thankfully, Mike was patient (and didn’t cancel) and we finally agreed to meet at Hopewell around 1 PM. As Marissa was walking over, she saw Mike heading in the wrong direction. She yelled out “MIKE??” from down the block and he turned around, smiling, and walked over to meet her. That brunch lasted three hours and included four drinks for Marissa (a diet coke, iced coffee, mimosa, and a water). Eventually the Hopewell staff politely asked if we could wrap it up so they could set the room for dinner. We didn’t want to leave. Mike wasn’t sure if Marissa felt the same spark, but she texted him seconds after parting ways to say how much fun she had and to ask when we could do it again. A few dates, nonstop texting, and helping Mike pack for a tropical family cruise later, we were inseparable. We’ll spare you all the details, but let’s just say it involved a tonsillectomy, a shared Spotify playlist, and lots of adventures. We made it official in January 2020, just before the world shut down. If you can survive COVID lockdown together, you can survive pretty much anything. We've been together through everything since then, and we can't wait to celebrate the start of our next chapter with you all.
