James and Laynie met 7.5 years ago when they were introduced by Laynie's cousin at a Bassnectar concert in STL. Much to her protective cousin's dismay, they soon after became close friends. It was their love for music and having a good time that they realized they were a perfect match.
Having his plans to propose on a beach disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic; James instead proposed to Laynie during quarantine in which was supposed to simply be a family "porchtrait" with their two dogs Cooper and Lulu. Seeing as how Laynie's good friend Ellen was a professional photographer, James said "Welp, might as well kill two birds with one stone...this rings burning a hole in my pocket!" And one year from the day they will be getting married in the same city they started dating!
The city of New Orleans has always held a special place in their heart. They took their first trip together in 2013 for Mardi Gras. James has family that resides in the city and Laynie had a memorable family trip there in high school. The city's culture has all of the character that James and Laynie hold dear, "good food", good music", and "good vibes"; as well as all of the hot sauce they could ever need.
