We met at a party in high school, but I’ll tell the story from Nick’s side because it’s better than mine. Senior year of high school we were at a party and Nick’s friend said “hey that girl over there is pretty and she’s crying so you should go cheer her up”. Nick came over, introduced himself, and started making some silly jokes to make me smile. We kept in touch and dated a couple of times in between 2013-2016, and in 2017 we officially started dating on Valentines Day ❤️
We were in New Orleans for a wedding of one of our friends on Friday night, and Nick told me earlier that week that he'd made reservations at a nice restaurant for us to get brunch on Saturday right next to City Park. He said we'd go to City Park after and take a quick walk. I told him I'd MAYBE do it because I knew I'd wear heels to brunch :) We went to brunch, and after we started our walk in City Park and walked for maybe 2 minutes and saw a pretty fountain. We walked up to the fountain, and as I was reading the plaque on the stone he got on one knee and proposed as soon as I turned around. Little did I know, he had two of his good friends hiding behind a tree capturing the moment on camera. We took some photos after, celebrated with a drink at a local bar, then walked into a restaurant with all of our close friends and family there to greet us to celebrate. It was the best day ever!
Since me and Nick started dating seriously, we've loved our weekend trips to New Orleans together or with friends. A year or two ago, we were in New Orleans together eating dinner at Couvant, a restaurant in the Eliza James Hotel (we loved this restaurant!), and we saw a wedding party pass through the restaurant. They were dancing and playing jazz music and that's when we looked at each other like we were thinking the same thing and agreed.... we're totally getting in married in NOLA one day!!
