How we met and the engagement

Both of us were going along our merry ways… one in IN and the other in WI. When we happened to suddenly meet at my friend and Steve’s brother’s wedding in Golden, CO. While waiting outside for Megan’s rideshare after the wedding festivities, we struck up a conversation thinking it wouldn’t go anywhere. Little did we know we would meet again the following day at Pindustry located in Denver for a relaxed, wedding group recap. Steve’s group showed up over 2 hours late. The group Megan had came with were already a few libations in. Another conversation was struck up by Steve asking if I was ignoring him. Certainly, I was playing hard to get being all coy. Phone numbers were exchanged and the rest is history. Being long distance, we had frequent Sunday phone dates, which became a nice reprieve to the mundane weeks apart. Our first REAL date took place two months after meeting. Steve travelled to IN to accompany myself to The Teskey Brothers concert in Indianapolis so we made a nice weekend of enjoying each other’s company. Steve had already made up his mind he was dating me but, yet again, I played hard to get. You know, you can never be too cautious. Fast forward to a few trips between each other’s homes and meeting family and friends, mid-October I decided to send a card asking “Will you be my boyfriend, Steve?” A little note inside stated check yes… but little did Steve know they all were yes boxes. Got ‘em! But I waited over two weeks for Steve to finally get the card. Apparently the card was too heavy and additional postage was charged. An attempt to return the card occurred with no luck since no return address listed. Funny how the table turns and it was I who had to wait. All was worth it because we are happily in love with no plans to stop. The most recent CO trip brought exciting changes... we're engaged! The day was almost ruined to me feeling under the weather for the majority of the morning. But we made it through breakfast and ventured over to Denver Botanical Gardens. I enjoy researching and learning about plants so this was perfect tourist addition to our trip. We walked around several areas even looking at a map to "attempt" to find the perfect spot for Steve to propose even though I was oblivious. We ended up finding a secluded bench to rest for the 4 of us. Steve's bro and sister-in law, Adam and Nicole, were there to document the whole engagement. Steve slowly slumped to his knee from the bench and asked me to marry him. We sat on a bench after the rush of emotions and just enjoyed each other's company. It was a perfect day for us and I can't imagine anything better.

For all the days along the way
