Technically, John and Jen went to high school together, but neither of them gave each other the time of day, even though John claims they danced together at Winter Formal. Jen has no recollection of this taking place! It's okay to laugh at that part. *cue laughter* One night, Jen was heading home from celebrating a friends birthday when she decided to go to John's twitter page and favorite tweets that dated all the way back to 2016 and while she was favoriting John's tweets, John was doing the same in return. Eventually, John broke and messaged Jen on Twitter. "Lol damn you're going way back on my timeline! Are you out tonight?" John and Jen started talking more and more with each day, and eventually what truly won Jen over was when she asked John the deal breaking question.. "Do you like potatoes?" John said yes, and the rest was history.
All day Jen had a hunch that something was going on, but ultimately trying SO hard to not get her hopes up for a proposal. Jen made John swear he would never propose on Valentine's Day, so he did it the day before. A very John Foley move. John told Jen they were going to go hang out at her parents, which is nothing out of the norm for them. They got everything loaded up and left to go to her parents, but the entire ride Jen was a little freaked out about why John was acting the way he was in the car. Nervous and sweaty..... very sweaty. They rounded the corner to her parents and Jen began noticing extremely familiar cars. When walking up to go inside the house, John suddenly stopped in the garage, told Jen to stop where she was and he started telling her how much he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. John got down on his knee and asked Jen to marry him to which she happily said yes. Keep in mind, this was supposed to happen in front of both their families, so you can imagine the confusion on everyone's face when they both walked in with Jen flying her hand around everywhere showing her ring. A successful proposal indeed.
