Justin and I met in 2003, back when we went to school together at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. We stayed friends but eventually life moves on and we didn't stay in touch. Fast forward to 2019. I noticed his Facebook stating that he got a job nearby, in Newtown, where I worked 4 doors down at a salon from the restaurant! I told him that I would pop in sometime, but never did. Until one night.... A friend I worked with and I decided to grab dinner and an after work drink. She suggested we go to Justin's workplace. Here I wasn't even thinking that he still worked there. Totally forgot because, well that's me! My friend and I walked in and almost decided to walk out but we said we'd stay. I start heading back towards the kitchen to find a seat and I hear my name being called. "BRITNEY!.. BRIT!" I turn around and there was Justin standing at the kitchen door. I was so shocked and I was like " OMG that's right, you work here!" So we caught up that night. He fed me some amazing food and it felt like time never stopped. Needless to say, we exchange numbers. We ended up going on a few dates through the rest of 2019 into 2020. I liked him so much I basically made him leave his stuff at my apt and by the time Covid happened we lived together full time. He was so amazing to me through that hard year, even doing my nails for me! I knew he was a keeper. Fast forward to 2022, we decided to buy our first home together. Getting married was brought up all the time but I figured we would do that in the near future but we were doing things our way. And well, the rest, as they say, is history. Looking forward to being the new Mrs. Foushee and spending the rest of our lives together.
I always knew I was going to propose to Brit at one of two places. Longwood Gardens, which was always our favorite place during the holidays to visit since we started dating. Or, Christmas Eve- with our family. Just because I knew she "hated it". But I wanted our family to witness it for Brit. I had all of our family get ready to sit down and eat, as I had been preparing Christmas Eve dinner all day, knowing I was doing this. I had to act normal the entire time. As everyone finally sat down, I had our family sit in certain spots so that Brit was at the head of the one side of the table. I placed her ornament in back of the TV. I said to her " Hey what is that behind the tv?" She pulled it down and opened and as she reacted confusingly to the ornament, I pulled the ring out and proposed. She was so dumb founded that her reaction was both memorable and hilarious. Her response went something like, "Of course and Thank You" Brit couldn't even eat her dinner after all that! Even better, everyone had seen the ring already and knew I was proposing, even our unplanned guest. I always knew from day one, that when I decided to propose to Brit, I would do it around the holidays to make it meaningful for her. To bring more joy for the holiday season. We ALL KNOW she LOVES HALLOWEEN. So we decided to start looking at engagement rings and Brit and I found the perfect one. We went to Christmas Village early December and I snuck away to buy her an ornament with " I DO, 2023" and I had them write on it with Mrs. Foushee. The kicker of the entire story is that when I purchased the ring, the ring was hidden in plain site, right above the refrigerator. But since she is short, she would never look up at it and it sat there for a few weeks.
