One of our favorite restaurants in Downtown Duluth - their brussel sprout appetizer is phenomenal. And great drinks! We came here right after our proposal to celebrate and for Michelle to get the full debrief from Ryan on how he planned out the surprise!
Looking for good coffee in the Duluth area? Coffee That Matters (aka Phoenix Roaster) has no competition. Our weekly Friday treat to ourselves! Michelle loves the chai latte (the MVC) and Ryan always sticks with an iced Panamanian coffee, black. We always split a lemon blueberry muffin, too.
Amazing, authentic Mexican food. We love to get a molcajete to split with the table and a bunch of tacos. Ryan highly suggests the cabeza tacos and Michelle can’t leave without having at least one pastor taco. If you like spicy, try the burritos or enchiladas verdes!
Not one stop….but the stretch of Buford Highway (Rt 23) from our venue southwest towards Norcross and Doraville is known throughout Georgia and the southeast for its vibrant, multi-cultural, and authentic Asian and Latin American restaurants. Ryan and Michelle have found some incredible restaurants throughout the years from Nicaraguan to Mexican to Korean. Fun fact: Gwinnett County (Duluths home) is known as the Seoul of the Southeast! There are plenty of amazing Korean BBQ places and bakeries close by, many along Buford Highway!
If you’re going into the city, we highly recommend the Georgia Aquarium! It’s the largest aquarium in the US and seeing the whale sharks and manta rays in the large tank is so impressive. Michelle’s favorite are the Beluga whales and Ryan likes the penguins!
An old Sears building turned food hall and shopping district, Ponce City Market is well worth the visit if you’re going into the city and not sure what you want to eat - there is something for everyone! It’s located directly on the beltline, too, if you want to explore the city and nearby breweries.
If you have kids or just love the Muppets (and who doesn’t love the Muppets?!) the Center for Puppetry Arts is great! It’s pretty small so won’t take long but is full of nostalgia and could easily be added to a day -around town. Michelle almost cried getting to see Kermit and Rizzo in person when we went for Ryan’s birthday this year!
