It all started my senior year of high school. For a whole week, Matthew came into my work and asked the same questions! I thought he was crazy because who would come in every DAY and ask the same thing. He finally asked me for my number and after a week of texting we had our first date, which was at a Chinese restaurant. After eating we went for a drive to talk more in his old vehicle that had legit holes in the floor as in you could see the road (flint-stone style) and we stopped at a gas station in the middle of NO WHERE. He then reached over me to get a FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER and the way I remember it, is the screwdriver going across my neck in slow motion. He needed the screwdriver to open up the gas latch to pump gas. It will definitely be a date to remember (laughing emoji). We have gone through a lot together, from buying a house to becoming fur parents. These 7 years have only made us stronger. I can't imagine moving forward without my best friend and partner. We can not wait to celebrate this special day with our loved ones.
It happened during our annual Christmas photos, which if you know me then you know that I absolutely love Christmas. Matt wanted to take the pictures at the spot where we had our first Christmas photos taken, which was Dow Lake in Athens Ohio. I wanted to wear Christmas onesies however Matthew kept saying no. He insisted that we take "normal photos" however when it comes to our Christmas photos I like to take it to another level LOL. We walked through mud and my lovely older sister who has been taking our photos for many years was in on the surprise. She kept saying this is a nice spot or how about here. I did not think anything of it, just thought she was helping to guide the photos. The photo shoot was wrapping up and all of a sudden Matt wrapped his arms around me and opened up a little red box. His arms were shaking and it took me a second to realize what was going on. He then asked if I would marry him and of course I said YES!! I was shocked, surprised, and excited. I am looking forward to saying our Vows in front of our family and friends.
