The day Josh and Hannah met, campus was still a buzz with the newness of the school year. They were both nerdy, freshman honors students nervous about the classes, excited about meeting new people, and anxiously awaiting their fresh start in the world. Josh had seen Hannah for the first time across a classroom, too busy to look up from her work. Hannah was too diligent a student for her own good. It took another few weeks before Josh plucked up the courage to catch her before she ran out the door; she was always way too early for her next class. He stopped her in the hallway on her way down the library stairs. Hannah was flustered at first but intrigued by the stranger. Josh introduced himself and offered to walk Hannah to her next class. She accepted and they walked together to where Hannah thought her next class was. But when they arrived Hannah realized she had walked to the wrong classroom building (and Josh knew it was the wrong building but decided to keep that to himself to spend more time with her). The two walked hurriedly back across campus to a building just next door to the library. Hannah ended up being late to her class and Josh had gotten to know her enough to want to continue their conversation. He walked her to that class every week and by the time the class ended they had gone on their first date. Come Christmas the two were promised to be married, then on July 15th, 2017 Josh purposed with a dance under a sky full of stars.
It was a warm evening in July. The two love birds had just finished a delicious meal at a local Louisville restaurant and were headed to their favorite park, far enough away from the city lights to see the stars. Josh was slick: He had mostly convinced Hannah that the romantic evening was her idea, despite Josh having had reservations at the restaurant for over two weeks. She also thought it was her idea to go dancing under the stars at the park. But Hannah was clever. She understood what was happening; she just couldn't figure out how. While she was suspicious of the overly romantic behavior, Hannah did her best to allow Josh to whisk her away. They practiced their dancing to what will soon be their wedding song, Ed Sheeran's Tenerife Sea, and reminisced about the last time they danced at that spot. It had only been a year earlier, but they had grown so much since then. It was apparent in every dance step and each memory recalled. When the dancing had finished, Josh walked Hannah, her eyes closed, her hands in his, down to a bend in the path. When they arrived, a sign made of light splashed against the wall read "I love you." While the crickets added their harmony to John Legend's All of Me, Josh got down on one knee and asked his beloved to marry him. Hannah agreed as a perfect raw diamond slid onto her finger. Their happily ever after had finally begun.
