Summer is the best time of year to visit RMNP! Some trails we recommend: Easy hikes (Bear Lake Trail and Alberta Falls), Moderate hikes (Dream or Emerald Lake trail, Loch Lake via Glacier Gorge Trail). If your idea of vacation mode is NOT lacing up the hiking boots and breaking a sweat, you can still enjoy the park via scenic drives with lots of wildlife viewing opportunities. In 2024, RMNP is implementing a new reservation system to enter the park. On July 1st, 2024, visit the link to secure your park entry in August.
The road that takes you through Rocky Mountain National Park (from Grand Lake to Estes Park)! The drive is 48 miles (1 hr 30 min to 2 hrs). Beautiful views of the park, 11 miles above the tree line. You will need to purchase a day pass to enter Rocky Mountain National Park (visit link).
Spend the day shopping at antique stores, visiting coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops. The lakefront is a short walk from the downtown strip.
