Question

WHERE SHOULD I STAY IN LIMA?

Answer

Best areas to stay are in Miraflores or San Isidro, closer to restaurants and the ocean. They also have easier access the historical center of Lima if you decide to do a tour. There are example hotels from different price points & sizes. If you prefer to book an Airbnb would suggest one in Miraflores, close to Larcomar mall. • Miraflores Park: Located in Miraflores, very close to Larcomar very nice views of the Pacific • Westin Lima Hotel: Located between Miraflores and San Isidro, it is in the financial district, but close to main restaurant and bar areas • Hilton Lima Miraflores: Located in Miraflores, 10 minute walk from Larcomar and the promenade along the Pacific, close to many restaurants and bars • AC Hotel Lima: In Miraflores, direct views of the ocean, close to Larcomar and the main restaurant and bar area. • Aloft Lima Miraflores: Also located in Miraflores, 15 mins by car from the ocean, good location close to main restaurant and bar area. • Casa Andina: Peruvian chain of hotels which are good price-value, conveniently located and good service. Stay in Miraflores or San Isidro, not Centro or Benavides (areas less close to where you want to be) • Mercure Ariosto Lima: Good centric location in Miraflores • Radisson Decapolis Miraflores: Good centric location in Miraflores • Ibis Lima Reducto: Good centric location in Miraflores

Question

WHERE SHOULD I EAT IN LIMA?

Answer

Typical Peruvian food (e.g. Lomo saltado, aji de gallina, seco con frejoles, etc) • Isolina: located in Barranco, large plates to share. Best for lunch. • La Huaca Pucllana: located in Miraflores, the restaurant is in the middle of some ancient Inca ruins. Be sure to ask for a table in the terrace with a view. Also very nice at night. • Fiesta: Typical food from the north of Peru. Excellent mix of seafood with other types of dishes Seafood, have a Pisco Sour (or two) • Pescados capitales: Great Pisco Sour Catedral, they have a couple of venues & great seafood. • La Picanteria: Very traditional style seafood place, located in Surquillo (take an Uber), has plates to share. Excellent ceviche & seafood • Costanera 700: Old traditional seafood place with some Japanese inspiration. Located in Miraflores, close to the sea. Try “chita a la sal” (to share), the “cachete de mero”, or the “batayaki”. • El Mercado: Very good seafood, but complemented with other mains. Try ceviche, “tacu tacu amelcochado” or “seco norteno”. Nikkei (Peruvian/ Japanese fusion) • Maido: Amazing nigiris and good pisco cocktails. Be sure to have the “Bao” and “el intruso”, a foi-gras nigiri. You can order a fixed menu or a la carte. • Osaka: If you go to the San Isidro restaurant, ask to sit outside. Don’t forget to try the “tuna-fois”. Hard to classify, but great • Central: Gourmet (expensive) restaurant that was named the best restaurant in the world in 2023. Virgilio Martinez (the chef) will take you through the different regions of Peru (coast, highlands, jungle). • Rafael: Would recommend trying the “mollejitas de ternera”, “fois gras”, “conchas a la parrilla”, and the “ravioles de choclo asado”, but you really can’t go wrong with any dish. • Cosme: Try the “Bun”, the mollejas emparrilladas”, and the “arroz cosme”. They also have very good desserts, “crema volteada” • Kjolle: Sister restaurant to Central
