How We Met

2010

Flor: Kevin and I met back in 2010, while working at a small office in Santa Ana. He was training in the back room when I first saw him and he caught my eye for the first time. I was the one to initiate the conversation because as most of you know, he's very shy. We talked for a while and then one day we were just sitting next to each other and I asked, so are we official? We kind of laughed and we both said we are and just set our anniversary date as 04/08/2010. Our journey has been filled with many obstacles, many which were set to tear us apart, but we always managed to pull thru and become closer than we ever were. We are so happy that the people we hold close to our heart get to celebrate this big day with us. Kevin: Like Flor said, we met in 2010. It was my first job and I just remember going in for orientation not knowing what to expect. There was a small group of us being shown each room in the office. I just remember paying so much attention on every word that was the supervisor was saying that I didn't notice the people around me. There was a small break, and I looked out and immediately locked eyes with Flor. I still remember that first look. It probably lasted a split second but it felt a lot longer. We ended up sitting at the same table. I was super shy (still am now), so we didn't speak much. Part of the job was to answer phones and speak to potential employees. She had a reputation as being the quickest to answer. It was almost as she was a living legend. Of course, me being competitive, I wanted to show off my agility. I remember beating her the first time, and people were just staring at me as if I conquered Goliath. She denies this story but its true :) Abel, a close friend of mine at the time, asked me about the girl I was chatting with on Facebook. I told him about her. He messaged her and mentioned how nice it was to meet my girlfriend (was't official). We laughed about it and said I guess we are going out.

The Proposal

12/13/2019

The day started off like any other, getting the kids ready, taking them to school, Kevin heading out to work and same for me. My day was shorter, since I only worked my morning job. I got home and started to get for what I thought was just his Company's Holiday dinner, little did I know. When he got home from work he got ready, and for some reason he decided to move my car from the garage to the street to 'save him self a spot' for when we got home later in the evening. This was his excuse for me not questioning him why he was taking so long in the garage (that's where he hid the ring) when we had to leave to drop off the kids at my mom's. So he had called my mom that day to ask for her permission, he didn't want to do it over the phone but it was such a busy week he couldn't do it in person. When we dropped off Damien, I waited in the car, that's when he asked for my brother's permission. The two things I asked him to do before he proposed. When we dropped off Kyrie, my mom's hug was a little harder than usual, but I didn't think anything of it, but she was so excited for me. They wanted to be there, but Kevin wanted this between him and I. Dinner went well, we ate a lot. After, we said our goodbyes, and headed 'home'. I noticed he took the wrong freeway, but didn't think much of it. He pulled into Brookhollow Dr, and there we were. Back to where it all started. We got out of the car and stopped at the door of the office we used to work at. He started talking about our story and how we first met and everything we've been thru. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!! I couldn't believe it. I was so happy, he told me to call my mom because she was waiting for the answer. After we hung up, I started crying. I was so happy. We finally get to start this new chapter in our lives as husband and wife.
