Welcome to our wedding website – we’re so glad you’re here. We’ve created this website as a helpful resource for our upcoming destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. We decided to go with a destination wedding because of an experience we had at one of our friends’ big day. It was a wedding yes but it was also a mini vacation with our closest friends and we thought that was so much fun! We know that we’re asking you for a lot. We want you to know that we truly appreciate you and all the support you give us. That being said, please do not feel any pressure about taking a vacation with us -we totally understand if this doesn’t workout for you guys at this time. We’re so excited and we hope you are too! This story starts sometime in April of 2021 when Jackson was finishing up a mayor’s race in Moline, IL. He wasn’t quite done with that when he decided that he wanted to live and work in Washington, DC. One day, the stars aligned in his favor and he was offered the opportunity of a lifetime: to work for the Biden administration -the candidate he helped elect in the 2020 election. He had no idea how long this would take. However, just the fact that he was given an offer letter was enough for Jackson to start looking at apartments, the metro system and of course, Chicago bars in the DC area. This was also enough information for him to open up a Hinge account, one he had cleverly set to a zip code in DC.   For those of you who are not sure what Hinge is -it’s a dating app that allows you to meet singles within the area where you live. Flor’s radius was 30 miles out of Germantown, Maryland. This is an important fact, we’ll come back to this in a bit.    First, it will be a long road before Flor came to the place she was emotionally, mentally, and even physically in the Spring of 2021. Finally, she was living the life she always knew she deserved. This is good, guys!   I don’t care how many articles you've read. No one can truly prepare you for the online dating experience. It can be wild. Sometimes your dates are nice online but terrible people once you meet them in person. Sometimes they look absolutely nothing like the pictures they post on their profiles. Sometimes the person will ghost you (this is when you have great conversations, a good date but then they disappear on you without an explanation or good reason). It can be rough, guys.  Back to our love story. To keep or to delete her Hinge account, this is the question Flor contemplated on a lovely Sunday afternoon. She opened her account and saw this cute guy had sent her a rose (this is how the guy lets you know he likes you and wants to talk. However, you cannot start a conversation until you accept it. Alright back to Flor’s afternoon). “He’s cute,” she thought. There were no pictures of him and someone else’s kids, no pictures of dogs or him posing with a fish. His profile was solid. The actual selling picture was one of him and his grandpa drinking beers. It might not have been his most flattering (sorry Jackson, please don’t be offended) but that picture told Flor more than he would ever know. She accepted the rose and within seconds he replied “Thanks.” and just like that, a great conversation followed. It was a good feel. There was only one thing Jackson hadn’t told Flor yet. “So, I live in Chicago right now, I will move to DC for work later this summer. Don’t know when. I hope this is not an issue.”    “CHICAGO?!” All sorts of red flags came to Flor’s mind. This was not good. I mean, at least he was being honest but still. There is the risk of heartbreak sure but Netflix shows like The Tinder Swindler will open up your eyes to all sorts of potential dangers that come with online dating.   Flor will forever go back to this moment because all she wanted to do was forget about this guy and maybe delete her account. The struggle was real. All the Dateline episodes she’s watched have taught her better. So, she took a deep breath and went back to her conversation and asked Jackson. “So. How close are you with your grandpa?”    The conversations have never stopped since.      It would be 3 whole months before they met in person. They went to the Lincoln Memorial at night time for their first date. A year and a half later he tricked her into going back to visit Lincoln at night time again. He couldn’t have picked a better night. Just before they got to the monument he got on one knee and told Flor some of the most beautiful things she’s ever heard.
