In 2001, Scott and Rebecca met at Forest Hills Community Church in Strongsville, OH. Their parents attended Bible study and church events together and the kids would play. Unfortunately, Rebecca and Scott do not remember much of this time together and he moved away when they were still young. 20 years later, Rebecca was living in Paris, TX and wanted to do a Labor Day road trip through some of Texas’ major cities. Her plans fell through for where she was going to stay in Austin, so she planned on sleeping in her car, but a coworker convinced her to find a safer place to stay and that is when the miracles started happening. She reached out to some family friends and asked her mom if she knew of anyone else. Her mom contacted Scott’s mom who was the only person to respond, though they had not seen or talked together in years. She was out of town, but asked Scott to host Rebecca. He initially said no because he thought it would be weird for her, but eventually the moms and the kids came to an agreement and Rebecca was going to stay for a night. Scott’s mom described him as a bit of a hermit and Rebecca was not excited to be reintroduced to this computer science guy who her mom warned her not to talk about Texas or politics with. She extended her dinner as long as she could before going to his house, but when he opened the door, it was love at first sight. He fit her type to a T and when he said he was gluten free she swooned. They stayed up until three in the morning that night talking about music, movies, religion, Texas, and politics. Rebecca left early the next morning to continue her trip, but invited Scott to go camping with her that night. They had their first kiss at Brazos Bend State Park and the rest is history. Scott and Rebecca currently live in Kent, OH and are excited for their wedding officiated by their childhood pastor from Forest Hills Community Church.
