We hope you can join us for a surprise celebration honoring the 70th birthday of Mrs. Florezel Lashley and the 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. Kenrick and Mrs. Florezel Lashley.

It all began in the 1960s, when Kenrick and Florezel’s paths first crossed through a shared connection with Florezel’s brother. The connection was subtle, yet it would be the foundation for something extraordinary. Florezel’s journey began early in life. While she knew Kenrick as a teenager, they moved in different directions in their personal lives. But life had a way of bringing them together when the time was right. In the midst of life's ups and downs, something beautiful was about to bloom. Florezel and Kenrick’s paths crossed again, this time not as friends, but as partners in a story that was just beginning. They welcomed their first child, Elsa, into the world—a bond that would forever connect their family. In 1971, Kenrick set off on a new adventure to America, but even an ocean couldn’t separate him from the one person who had become so important to him. Over time, their love only grew stronger. And then, on a special day, Kenrick decided to make the ultimate gesture. He wrote Florezel a letter, asking her the most important question of all—if she would marry him on her birthday. Florezel, knowing that their love was meant to be, said yes. And so, in 1980, Kenrick returned to Guyana, where they were married in a ceremony filled with love, hope, and promises for the future. Their story had only just begun. In 1981, they all emigrated from Guyana to the United States and began a new chapter in life. Today, Kenrick and Florezel are surrounded with love by their children Elsa, Alexis, Kendreia, Latoya, and Felicia. Florezel and Kenrick’s journey wasn’t just about love; it was about perseverance, timing, and a deep connection that withstood the test of years and distance. And today, as we celebrate their legacy, we see the strength of that love reflected in the family they’ve built and the lives they’ve touched. This story, from humble beginnings to a lifetime of memories, reminds us all that sometimes the most beautiful love stories are the ones that take time to unfold.
