Isla Holbox (pronounced Hole-bosh), is a serene, car-free Mexican island north of the Yucatan Peninsula, defined by sandy streets, vibrant street art, and a laid-back, bohemian atmosphere.
We recommend staying your first night in Cancun, then arranging transportation to the Chiquila ferry for the following morning. This gives you time to rest after your flight and ensures a smooth transition to the next leg of your journey.
Getting to Isla Holbox: The ferry departs from Chiquilá (2 hours from Cancun). Options to reach Chiquilá: -Email Villas Caracol to arrange transfers in advance at eventos@villascaracol.com - Shuttle: Reserve at www.HolboxShuttles.com - Taxi: Available at airport/hotel zones (book ahead recommended) Ferry Details: Holbox Express and 9 Hermanos operate the same route every 30 minutes, 6:30 am–9:30 pm (30-minute crossing). Porters available at dock for tips. On Holbox: The island is car-free with sandy roads; all transportation is by golf cart (~15 minutes to Villas Caracol). Bring cash in pesos—there's a bank with ATM on the island.
