Groom

Go Navy, beat Army. Just a sailor who stumbled upon this treasure of a beauty in the shipwreck of life. Kyle was forced to identify as a DMV’er for most of his existence, only breaking this tradition when sailing the high seas around the world. Although he despised school well into the completion of his graduate degree, Kyle realized that having it all was not enough, so he made his way into the streets of the District to find love. It wasn’t long before this lovely lady met him in a basement Chinatown bar to teach him how to throw a dart like a champion, and she struck his heart with a bullseye. Kyle was born as an infamous Columbia, MD kid in the year of the dragon (1976), and is also known as a bicentennial baby. With five siblings, he had plenty of brothers and sisters to teach him the art of getting into trouble. They also did a fantastic job of teaching him how to be a brother {scrapes dirt off shoulders}. Now, Kyle is a grand sire, with a beautiful daughter and son and two incredible grandkids, who have been instrumental in giving Kyle a chance in the dynamic of fatherhood. After meeting Katie “Sweeps”, (short for sweet pea, not a broom), his family has grown even more (see Katie’s bio), to include Jon, who loves Minecraft and is afraid of bees (same).

Bride

Go Army, Beat Navy. Katie grew up surrounded by siblings and endless family in Ashburn, Virginia, where a kid could be a kid. She had lots of family pets and now shares a fur child with Kyle— Rudolf Ludlow Perry, aka Rudy aka Rude Boi aka Roodles aka Super Clown. After joining the Army in 2010, she spent the next few years kicking ass and taking names as a crypto-linguist. In October of 2012 she met the first love of her life, Jon Roland, born after 17 hours of labor in Fort Benning. It wasn’t until 9 years later that she met the second love of her life, Kyle. Between the happy hours, dinner dates, and weekends away they bounced around apartments in the city, always seeking one that felt like home. Eventually they started house hunting! While on vacation in Saint Thomas last year, Kyle took Katie on a scuba excursion to swim with sea turtles where she did not get seasick and she was not afraid to jump off the bow into the crystal clear water. He surprised her that evening with what Katie assumed was a complimentary resort dinner. Kyle proceeded to get down on one knee before posing the question: Will you be my wife? Katie was indeed surprised, but already knew the answer to this very question long before it was asked. After four years together they’re finally doing the damn thing and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone they know and love! They are the definition of a Hinge Success Story and are waiting their turn to submit their testimonial as an old couple.
