Kyle ran into Erica at Handlebar coffee, a spot they both frequented to read and study. They hadn't seen each other since working together in the ICU a year before. They chatted, Kyle was wearing a bright blue Patagonia, he asked Erica to "hangout sometime" and asked for her number. Later that day Erica was mattress shopping at a store next to Dune Coffee. As she left the store and drove out of the parking lot there was Kyle, again, at a different coffee shop, sitting and reading. In that split second they make eye contact and Erica awkwardly rolls down the window to say hi, again. He laughs and jokes about having a stalker, to this day he still thinks it's true. Debatable. A few days later Kyle asks Erica on a coffee and hike date, both some of their favorite things. They hike up Saddle Rock trail on the most beautiful day which overlooks all of Santa Barbara, the perfect date. Shortly after that date on 4. 17. 17 Kyle asks Erica to be his girlfriend. Almost five years later they go on that same hike for another very special day...

It started as an ordinary Wednesday. Kyle and Erica went to Dart and sipped coffee in the garden. Kyle suggested to go for a walk on the beach but Erica suggested a hike instead. They decided on Saddle Rock trail, the same hike as their first date. At the top of the hike Kyle pulled Erica up onto a rock overlooking all of Santa Barbara. He pulled out a card with a ring and asked her to marry him! Erica was completley surprised and said YES!!!
