Derick and I met on October 29th, 2018, on my first day at a new job after moving to Minneapolis from North Dakota. Although we didn’t work closely together, we bonded over lunches with coworkers and after-work happy hours. It didn’t take long for us to realize how much we had in common. What began as casual conversations soon grew into something much more meaningful. We officially began dating on February 28th, 2020, right before the pandemic began. During this time of getting to know each other on a deeper level, we spent countless evenings cooking together, taking walks around the city, and watching our favorite shows and movies. Even when we were doing nothing at all, we always had smiles on our faces because being together made everything fun. Fast forward four years, and Derick and I were on a trip to Florida visiting family. While there, we planned to attend a Minnesota Twins spring training baseball game. Little did I know, Derick had been working with his uncle to orchestrate a grand proposal at the game. Although there were a few hiccups along the way (or so he tells me!), on February 27th, 2024, Derick asked me to marry him during a "Couple's Trivia" game in front of 7,000 people! It’s a moment I’ll never forget—and something Derick will always claim he "wasn't nervous" about. It feels so good to be truly known, and I couldn’t be more excited to marry him and start our lives together as husband and wife. ~Sophia
