Every great love story starts somewhere—and ours began while walking our dogs. Brendan, born and raised in Minnesota, found himself in a season of transition and decided to move into The Fred apartments. A short while later, Macy moved from Colorado to Minnesota to pursue her career, bringing along her two dogs and settling into The Fred as well. In that first month, our paths began to cross—literally. Passing each other on the walking path, in the parking garage, and at the gym became part of our routine. Brendan couldn’t help but notice the beautiful girl he kept seeing and started mentioning her to Kevin and his family. Meanwhile, Macy was telling her mom and siblings about the “hot dog dad” she kept passing. For three months, we remained familiar strangers—until Brendan finally made the first move. One very hot and humid August day, he walked right up, introduced himself, and sparked our very first conversation. The next day, he “happened” to run into Macy again while she was walking her dogs. They picked up right where they left off, and he asked for her number—along with planning a first date to show her around the Minnetonka and Wayzata area. On September 1, 2024, we had our first date at 6Smith on Lake Minnetonka, followed by a walk down the pier. From that moment on, everything just clicked. Brendan wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise—and he pulled it off perfectly. What began as a work trip for Macy to Fort Worth quickly turned into a weekend girls trip with her mom and sisters, all while Brendan was behind the scenes planning every detail of the engagement. Early Saturday morning, Brendan picked Macy up and took her to the airport, then hurried back home to drop off the dogs with sitters before catching the next flight to Fort Worth himself. All the while, he played it cool, telling Macy he was spending the day with friends to throw her off. He arrived in Fort Worth ready to set the final stage, but got a call that flight delays would push her mom and sisters’ arrival to late Saturday night—forcing Brendan to quickly come up with a Plan B that turned out even more perfect. On Sunday morning, Macy grabbed a coffee and headed to check out the water gardens. As she walked in, she saw her handsome boyfriend coming up the stairs—and instantly knew what was about to happen. Brendan led her down to a quiet, intimate spot and got down on one knee to ask the big question. She said YES! The rest of the day was spent celebrating, calling family, and sharing the news.
