After an ordinary Wednesday Matt and I were laying in bed just casually talking before going to sleep. He asked me what I was thinking about, I responded that I was thinking about the tips I made that day at the salon. I then asked him what he was thinking about. Matt gave me a monotone answer of "a lot." I told him that didn't explain very much he then elaborated with that he was thinking about the sheet rock job he need to finish, trying to decided if he was going to Deadpool Saturday, and thinking about going golfing Sunday. Then it was quiet for about a minute (and if you know Matt, you know if you give him a quiet two minutes he will be sleeping) so I assumed we were going to sleep. Then Matt asked me, can I ask you a question. I rather annoyingly said what. Then he asked me if I would marry him and I was like wellll you know the answer to that. Matt said seriously. I am pretty sure I just kept repeating what?! and I can't see your face (cause the lights were off since we were going to bed). I really thought he was lying and just messing around. He then turned on his flash light phone and pulled the ring out of his night stand, looked me in the eyes and said see I'm being serious will you marry me, then I responded with a yes :)
It was pretty easy to figure out that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Rachael. The past months leading up to it, I was trying to figure out the perfect approach to popping the question. After being given the blessing to ask their daughter to marry me, I had the ring in hand, but still not confident on how to do it. After pondering over a couple ideas (hiking trip to the Palasades? tie it in with a new fishing pole somehow?), I just knew I wanted it to be completely spontaneous, and a surprise. While laying in bed and pondering thoughts and talking about how our days were going, in a split second decision decided, why not right now. She would never expect it. And I was right : ) After realizing I wasn't teasing her, she said yes!
