A “hello” message turned into a conversation. That conversation led to texting, then phone calls that stretched into the night. It felt so easy, so natural. We talked about everything: work, childhood, dreams, fears, even silly things. There was something about her, the way she listened, the way she laughed, she has the brightest smile known to man, that stayed with me. One thing that also stood out for me was that she carried her self so elegantly, was kind to everyone with a good head on her shoulders. We didn’t talk again for a while, but somehow, life kept finding ways to cross our paths and bonded so quickly every time we connected. Our relationship has grown organically. Friends, lovers, advisors, prayer partners, you name it! We learned how to communicate, how to support one another, how to love each other in the ways we each needed. Every milestone felt like confirmation that we were building something lasting. A partnership, a friendship, a love story rooted in realness. An ode to the woman who has stood beside me through growth, change, and life. My wife. My answered prayer. My always.
I’m still blown away by how life brought us together. We literally walked the same high school hallways from 2006 to 2008, completely unaware of each other’s existence. And then, almost a decade later in 2016, our paths crossed again… this time more intentionally, and it sparked a lifelong friendship. Oluwaseyi, you’ve become such an important part of my life. I’m constantly grateful for our friendship, our adventures, our laughs, and the quiet moments in between. You’re my gist buddy, my guy, my pharmacist, my prayer partner, “Mr. Always Indulge Fiyin,” and my biggest cheerleader. I love how we hold space for each other, how we show up as our full selves without fear or judgment. What we have is the true definition of a safe space. From strangers in the same hallway, To friends, To forever. May we always remain friends… till the end of time.
