Independence Mall is the country's birthplace and gateway to Old City. Home to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall; also the filming location of the documentary 'National Treasure'
Hit Tony DiNic's for some roast pork, or weave through and try a cheesesteak or one (or more) of many food stalls featuring local foods of all varieties
Worth a walk down the parkway, or up from the Schuylkill River Trail if you're out for a jog - great views of the skyline, or slip inside for some art if you have the time (but be warned - you can spend a day there easily!)
Philadelphia's oldest continuously operating bar (since 1860). Pro tip: grab a pitcher upstairs and cue up Mariah on the TouchTunes
The Schuyllkill River Trail is a great option for those looking for some outside exercise. A few access points downtown on the eastern bank, this path runs from South Street up through Fairmount Park and past Wissahickon... you're really only limited by how far you feel like going! UPDATE: Parks on Tap, a pop-up beer garden, will be visiting Schuyllkill Banks this weekend, easily accessible from the Walnut St entrance.
Scratch that itch for a festbier and pretzel at one of our Fishtown neighborhood haunts
Great views of the bridge and water on the Race St Pier, and some pop up shops on Cherry Street pier. Also connected to the Delaware River trail for riverside running/biking
One of our favorite restaurants right next to Erin's old apartment; great Italian food in the Rittenhouse/Fitler Square neighborhood
For a real South Philly feel, sample the variety of shops within the Italian Market. This address starts you at the delicious Di Burno Bros., but there's plenty more to explore
Typically reserved for celebration after Philly's sports victories, but we (mostly Mike) applaud the spirit anytime. BYO Crisco
