No, we will be holding a small, intimate family & bridal-party only ceremony on Friday October 11th, the anniversary of meeting each other in person for the first time. We wanted to be married on the 11th because it is a very special day for us. However knowing we have many friends and family that might not be able to attend a Friday wedding, we decided to hold the celebratory party (the reception) on Saturday. On Saturday, October 12 we will say a few words to recognize our official union from the day prior and then we will enjoy the food, games, and music together!
The celebration will be held in a fully enclosed pavilion with a few large garage doors. If the weather is nice we will have the doors open and will expand into the grassy field beyond. If the weather does not cooperate, we will stay inside the pavilion with the doors closed.
Attire is garden cocktail party (if you google 'garden cocktail party outfit', the images section provides excellent guidance). It will be an indoor/outdoor event with lawn games so we recommend avoiding narrow heeled shoes as it will be difficult to navigate the gravelly and grassy areas of the venue. Please also be mindful of the weather as it may get colder towards the end of the celebration, so bring a sweater or jacket just in case.
Yourself! We will have a variety of lawn games, but if you have a favorite at home, you are also welcome to bring it along.
The schedule is relaxed, however we recommend arriving between 1:00-1:30 PM. We will say a few words of welcome and thanks around 1:30-2:00 PM and the band will go on after that, which you won't want to miss!
YES! Our favorite restaurant, Burgundian, is catering our celebration. They will be providing a variety of small plates, snacks, and dessert. We will also be supplying wine, beer, cider, hard seltzers, non-alcoholic seltzers, and water. If you have any dietary restrictions or needs, please let us know when you RSVP and reach out to Shivahn and John with any questions/concerns.
If you're traveling in from out of town and looking for a place to stay we recommend planning your location based on any sight seeing or further travel you'd like to do before heading home. If you do not have plans yet, Providence or Boston are both great options for touring before/after the celebration and within reasonable driving distance from the venue (25 mins & 45 mins, respectively). There are also hotels at Patriot Place / Gillette Stadium (20 mins away) with many convenient restaurants and shops nearby.
Your presence at our celebration is all we need! However if you would still like to give us a gift, you can contribute to our honeymoon adventure fund or our cozy home renovation fund. We are traveling to Malaga, Spain for our honeymoon and it will be John's first trip to Europe, so we are hoping to take in all the sights and culture and history while we are there. And if you follow us on social media, you know we have some big home projects underway to make our home safer (i.e. upgraded wiring!) and more comfortable.
