Jacob planned a date night downtown Coeur d’Alene to “celebrate” being moved into our house! We were homeowners! Tired from moving, cleaning and painting but excited that it was ours! I should have thought something was up when I got home from work and Jacob was dressed in jeans and ready to go out. Getting him to wear something other than sweat pants can be a big challenge. He would get married in his basketball shorts if I let him. We went out to dinner at Titos. It was a wonderful meal and we had an enjoyable time there. Afterwards, Jacob suggested we walk the board walk. It was really cold but walking the board walk has always been our date of choice so I agreed. We were leisurely strolling the boardwalk. As we got closer to the middle of the board walk jacob’s pace got quicker. Soon, I could barely keep up with him. He was walking too fast for me to get a good grip on his hand but I had managed to grab his wrist. I could feel his pulse racing. We had made it to the middle of the board walk where we could look out on the large open lake. All of a sudden he stopped, took my hand and got down on one knee. It was such a pleasant surprise . We had talked about getting married but had not made a specific plan. He got all teary eyed and was so nervous. It was so cute! My response as he talked about love and being together was “your not... oh my god you are... your not... oh my god are you? You are”. I couldnt believe it and stammered on like an idiot for a solid 30 seconds just in pleasant shock that this was finally happening! Finally, after making the sweetest moment he pulled out a beautiful ring and put it on my finger. After I said yes we continued to walk around the board walk. He clutched my hand until we made it back to land. Making sure that ring stayed right there on my hand. We went and told our families that night. But we planned a surprise party for our best friends to tell them our wonderful news. It was the perfect night and my favorite memory.
