We both attended Tot Spot with Ms.Brenda, Ms. Rhonda & Ms.Angie. We were not in the same class but our classes played together on the playground. We always remembered one another and we had mutual friends through grade school. When Shante' was 16 he told my mom that one day he'd be her son-in-law. Let's say neither one of us could see it! We were such good friends though. Years pass by and we kept in contact off and on. I then moved to Greensboro, NC shortly after we graduated high school in 2011. One day he called and told me that he would be passing through the area going to hang-out with Steve in Winston-Salem, NC. He said maybe before I go we can get lunch. During that time I was working for Windsor Store in Four Seasons Mall as Store Manager. It was a crazy busy Saturday and I didn't get a chance to take a lunch break until almost 7 p.m. He had texted me and asked when I would I be taking my break and I told him it would be late because we had been so busy. He proceeds to ask where I wanted to go eat. I knew that it had to be quick because we were still busy. There was a Hibachi place in the mall and so I told him that I'd probably go there and get a Hibachi Chicken plate around 7 p.m. and he could meet me if time permitted. Well, 7 p.m. rolls around and I was in my stockroom getting my wallet to go on lunch break. My co-manager and friend Cierra comes to the stockroom smiling telling me that someone was there to see me and I had no idea who it was because she was smiling so hard and I hadn't heard back from Shante'. Y'all he was standing there with a dozen of white roses and Hibachi food for me. I was like "OH BOY". I called my mom freaking out and she says "well he said he was the one". Years pass and we kept in contact here and there. I decided that I was moving closer to home. I told all of my friends including Shante', His response was "Oh, It's time now"! I had no idea what that meant until time passed. I found myself spending all of my time with him.
Well its no secret that we were fresh into each other. One great dinner that I cooked, a red dress, wine, frozen sugar coated fruit, hennessy, rose petals, balloons and thirty days later little Miss.Joi was in the oven. Oh boy was he happy! After a few months I agreed to move back home. Shortly after moving back my mom and I were hanging out. We went into a store and after we got what we needed she walks near the jewelry case. She asks me "Jasmine have you and Shante' talked about what's next?" I said "Yes, eventually marriage" and she says "have you looked at rings?" I hadn't. So it started in that store casually and as I was looking she was taking pictures. I thought nothing of it. About two months pass by and its time for our maternity pictures and nothing seemed off that day. My mom and his mom were there but I was 7 months pregnant so we needed as much help as possible because we changed outfits during our session. Well, just when I thought we were done I was told by the photographer to sit on a bench and he was directed to stand behind me. Next thing I know is Shante' said my name, I looked and down on one knee he was with the ring that I had fallen in love with! WOW! I was to busy trying to protect my lashes, yall. Of course I said "YES, still saying YES and will always remain YES".
