Question

Do I need a visa to go to Vietnam?

Answer

YOU MUST APPLY FOR A VISA WHEN VISITING VIETNAM You must have: - Your passport - Most recent photo of yourself with white background - Visit this site: https://evisa.gov.vn/ to apply for an e-Visa - Will process within 3-5 business days (PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY) or - can go to a Vietnamese travel agency to process your Visa as well

Question

My passport expires after the trip is it still valid?

Answer

We would highly recommend that if your passport is expiring 2026, we would recommend you renewing it to ensure your return home.

Question

How do I attain a Vietnamese SIM card?

Answer

Most likely, everyone has a phone with dual eSIM. I think "aloSIM" is the easiest app to attain an eSIM card. I have only tried with Apple, so for the Android users, if this doesn't work, I just googled "eSIM compatible with phone model," & I was able to set it up. The activation is almost immediate. I am not sure if you can plan for it to be activated at a later date.

Question

How do I travel around the country?

Answer

I would recommend downloading "Grab" before traveling here & setting up your payments. Grab is exactly like Uber & Uber Eats. It's a great way to travel from city to city. You have the option to choose your traveling experience: either in a car or on a moped.

Question

How do I book hotels?

Answer

I really liked the "Agoda" app. This app has both hotels & Airbnb-like properties. Easy to use & a lot of deals. Can book with your credit card. We booked on the fly the last time we were here, but feel free to pre-book as well; it may even be cheaper. Some of my family says that AirBNB is cheaper as well, I would recommend to check both to ensure the best pricing

Question

How do I exchange money?

Answer

NEW LAW WILL PASS FEB 9, 2026 where it’ll be illegal to exchange money in a jewelry store!!!! Don’t exchange at the jewelry store you might get fined . As of now please do your research. Social media said to use VP Banks for no fees.

Question

How do I know the currency exchange?

Answer

I would recommend downloading the "Currency" app. This shows the most accurate conversion from VND to USD. If you are traveling to other places before or after the wedding, it shows the rates in other countries, which can be beneficial when exchanging your money or bargaining.

Question

Does Google Maps work here?

Answer

From our experience, TikTok has a lot of "how to travel in Vietnam," & pre-downloading a map was a great tip to get around your desired city. If you have attained an eSIM your maps should work just like at home.

Question

What if I don't speak the language?

Answer

Google Translate will be your best friend on this trip. In Ho Chi Minh City, there are a lot of English-speaking locals. I would recommend downloading the "Google Translate" app before arriving here. YouTube a few words to feel like a local here. Also you will have access to my wedding planner to feel more comfortable commuting from Ho Chi Minh to Vung Tau.

Question

What's the weather like?

Answer

We researched during this month & it is supposed to be the peak rainy season. In 2025, there was barely any rain in Vung Tau, but you can be prepared. Local shops have ponchos you can purchase, or you can bring them from home. I would recommend still dressing like summer because it's around 82°F-86°F.

Question

How do I contact you while we are in Vietnam?

Answer

WhatsApp would be ideal. I am unsure if our phone numbers will be the same in Vietnam, but definitely contact our wedding planner, My, if it is urgent. Worst case scenario Facebook should work

Question

Is there room blocks for Marina Bay Resort?

Answer

Unfortunately, the venue does not allow me to do room blocks. The resort mentioned to just book regularly thru the website, Zalo or their phone number. I believe at this rate, it's about $100/night. You're more than welcome to stay at the resort, but I would recommend staying in a villa together with a group or finding a stay outside the resort. Vung Tau is similar to Quincy, takes approximately 20ish minutes from one end to the other.
