They met at the Dixie Tavern in Atlanta, GA while James was a lead jet fighter mechanic at Lockheed Martin and Jessica was in chiropractic school at Life University. It was 3 days before Halloween, and Jessica painted her face in Dia Los Muertos makeup. The first thing James said to her was, "Cool face." And the rest is history.
Actually yes! It was right after they moved to Denver together in 2015. James started going to school at Metro State University and Jessica purchased her chiropractic practice. All the change and transition was really hard on both of them, and it was apparent they both had things emotionally that needed to be healed. They then spent 6 years, almost to the day, apart from each other, only seeing each other once 3 years in for as friends wedding. It had been 6 years of growth and realizations for both of them. It wasn't until June 2022 did Jessica see a message on her Hinge dating app from James commenting on how nice she looked in one of her pictures. He then asked if she would like to meet up for a drink to catch up. She agreed, not having no expectations that this would be more than catching up with an old friend. When they met up, both of them had realized how much the other had grown and their attraction to each other was still strong. The kiss at the end of that night was magical and they decided to try this loving each other thing again.
An incredible opportunity arose from one of Jessica's patients to buy a house together, an amazing retro 70s house in Green Mountain (20 minutes west of Denver), in July 2023. The house has a beautiful yard for our pups (Loki-3yo and Odin- just a puppy), gorgeous views of the mountains, and is a 5 minute walk to the Green Mountain trail. Everything in the house in original from the 70's so there is a lot of work that needs to be put into the house but we aren't afraid of a little elbow grease. : )
