In mid-October 2019 we connected via online dating. We talked for a few days and then scheduled our first date at a local Starbucks on the 26th. Amber arrived first and ordered the wrong chai tea and Ryan was running late (as usual). Despite the rocky start, we closed the place down talking. We spent the next few months getting to know each other and falling in love. When the covid shutdown started, we decided to keep safe and stop seeing each other in person. The months we spent physically apart actually brought us closer together. We started to video chat daily, watched movies and TV together while on the phone and played words with friends. As things slowly opened back up again, we've been able to share so many great memories with our families and friends. We've also been there to support each other in some really difficult times. We're looking forward to all of our next adventures
We have decided the best way to celebrate meeting each other is to take annual vacations at the end of October. For 2021, we decided on Nashville. This trip would combine two of our common interests, good food + country music. We (mostly Amber) spent months planning the trip. On our second full day in town, we planned a tour of the Grand Ole Opry. At the end, you get your photo taken on stage and you stand on the circle. The circle is where everyone in country music aspires to stand. After our photo was snapped, Ryan dropped down on one knee and proposed! Shaking and completely surprised, Amber said "YES!" The rest of the trip was full of freshly-engaged bliss and great new memories.
