How We Met

Before the Summer of 2015 while in college at the University of Arkansas, Hannah decided to get a job as a server at the Fayetteville Country Club. Not too long after, Alex started working as a bartender at the same country club, not so subtly giving Hannah hints he was interested. While working a wedding event one Saturday evening, Alex, being a bartender, was allowed to choose a server to help tend the bar with him. He chose Hannah. She was not necessarily thrilled to stay late at work on Saturday night, but decided the money would be worth it. As Alex poured drinks, Hannah made sure he had all the ice and garnishes ready to accompany. During the down time of the wedding, sometime during the random couple's first dance- Alex made a joke about how cheesy the couple's selected wedding song was. Hannah agreed. Alex then asked what Hannah was studying while at the University of Arkansas, which she replied, "Creative Writing, I really like poetry." On a notepad, Alex started to write Hannah his own form of poetry. To this day, they can't remember exactly what Alex wrote, but it was something along these lines... Except maybe a little less PG-13... "Roses are red Violets are blue You're kinda cute And I'd like to hangout with you" With an eye-roll and a smile, that's how their story began.

How He Proposed

On the morning of Saturday, March 27th, 2021- Alex offered to make breakfast (A common tradition with the couple, as this is Hannah's favorite meal). Being gone at the grocery store for quite some time, Hannah wondered what was taking him so long. Forty-five minutes later (Kroger is 0.3 miles away from their house), Alex came home with all the ingredients for a Saturday breakfast and two bouquets of flowers. After breakfast, Alex and Hannah knew the plan was to go hiking at Emerald Park. But what Hannah didn't know, as the couple continued to climb upward toward the highest point of the bluffs, was Alex had something else in mind. Admiring the view and asking questions about the valley below, Alex called for Hannah's attention. She was clueless. She turned around to find Alex on one knee. Before he could say a word, Hannah said, "Yes!”
