Eric and Heather found love the traditional way: through the internet. After deciding that stranger danger didn’t apply to them, they agreed to meet for a date. Their first date was at Lionheart coffee house on April 29th, 2023. Eric was so smitten that he immediately asked out Heather for a second date the very next day. Thanks to his good friend Sally (now our officiant!), he was able to get tickets to one of Heather’s favorite past time activities: wine tasting. However, Heather wasn’t as sure as Eric was. So as any romantic risk taker would do, she turned to Facebook dating advice groups for more information. Alas, there was Eric with kind words from friends vouching for him and praising him for his thoughtful and kind ways. Eric and Heather continued to build trust in each other over the years. Even when they found that their hobbies and interests differed, they still found appreciation for each other and a willingness to learn more about the other. In particular, Eric learned that he may even like Heather’s dog, Humphrey, and Heather learned that tennis can be an interesting sport to watch.
With the help of Heather’s friend Alice, Eric set out to plan the proposal of their dreams. Eric had big plans from the beginning. Alice still has stress dreams about these plans. But they eventually came together to create a magical beach proposal. Alice mentioned that Eric and I may want to take professional photos at the beach since we hadn’t done anything like that before. I called Eric that night and asked him if we could take photos on the beach not knowing that it wasn’t my idea. We shopped together for our outfits, discussed silly poses, and what to eat for dinner on the way down. Our friend and photographer, Jessie had us running and walking and spinning. During one of the spins, I turned around and there was Eric on one knee (or both knees as he remembers it). He probably said something romantic, but neither of us could tell you what it was, but we both know that I said yes! The surprises weren’t over though. Jessie walked us down the beach and there was a picnic basket set up with a bottle of wine. Eric and I sat down for a drink, and his Sister, Lilly, and Alice popped out from behind a rock! They drove ahead to the air bnb waiting for us and made us dinner. We spent the rest of the weekend at the coast. We’re very thankful for Alice and Lilly and Jessie. They made this moment so special for us.
