Traveling from Ontario to Charlottetown, PEI, is a classic Canadian trek. If you are coming from the GTA or Ottawa, flying is the most efficient way to start your vacation. Direct flights run daily from Toronto (YYZ) and Ottawa (YOW). Approximately 2 to 3 hours in the air. The drive from Toronto to Charlottetown is roughly 1,700 km and takes about 17–19 hours of pure driving time.
Traveling from the prairies of Alberta to the red shores of Prince Edward Island is a true "coast-to-coast" Canadian experience. A direct flight is about 4.5 to 5.5 hours. With a layover (usually in Toronto or Montreal), expect a total travel time of 7–10 hours. The drive covers approximately 4,500 km and takes about 42–48 hours of actual seat time.
