Flight
If you're traveling to Joshua Tree, the closest and most convenient airport is Palm Springs International (PSP) ✈️, just 40 minutes away, though flights tend to be more expensive. Most visitors, however, will fly into Los Angeles (LAX) ✈️, Burbank (BUR) ✈️, or Ontario (ONT) ✈️ before making the drive. If you're coming from the west, you'll likely take Interstate 10, with drive times varying based on traffic. LAX ✈️ is the most common option, but the drive can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours depending on traffic. Burbank (BUR) ✈️ has a similar drive time and can be less chaotic than LAX. A great alternative is Ontario International (ONT) ✈️, only about 90 minutes away, offering a good balance of convenience and affordability. If you're driving from anywhere other than Palm Springs, be sure to read the next section below about obtaining a FasTrak pass.

Travel Note
Driving Tips: If you're traveling to Joshua Tree from the west on Highway 10 (which most visitors will), you'll likely be flying into Los Angeles (LAX) ✈️, Burbank (BUR) ✈️, or Ontario Airport (ONT) ✈️. Consider carpooling and/or using the FasTrak lanes to bypass traffic. You can register your car or a rental car for a FasTrak transponder or sticker at: https://thetollroads.com. FasTrak transponders are typically free to obtain, and using FasTrak lanes comes with very low fees—usually between 75 cents and $3. It's definitely worth the effort to bypass bumper-to-bumper traffic! Recently, freeway signs have indicated that you can also use FasTrak lanes and pay online, which is another convenient option. Please note Fastrack lanes are separate from Carpool lanes and there a lot more of them. Highly recommended! If you are flying into Palm Springs, you do not need a FasTrak transponder.
