Avery Point and the Branford House have had a unique history over the past century. The mansion has gone through many transformations from being the home of one of the area's most colorful and beloved benefactors, to a U.S. Coast Guard establishment, and finally becoming part of the University of Connecticut. Address: 1084 Shennecossett Road Groton, Connecticut 06340 Directions: • Off I-95, take exit 87 - Rt. 349 (Clarence B. Sharp Highway). • Proceed to the second light. • Take a right onto Rainville Avenue. • Take 1st left onto Benham Road. • Proceed on Benham (which turns into Eastern Point Road) for 1.8 miles. • The entrance to Avery Point UConn will be straight ahead. • Proceed straight on campus entrance road and take your second left. • Mansion is on the right.
